What is a Safe Strategy Child Protection Plan Workshop?
The Safe Strategy Child Protection Plan (CPP) Workshop is an 8-hour session designed to train organizational leaders on the methodology, content, and strategies necessary for implementing the CPP. Participants will learn about abuse awareness, case studies, and evolving information. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to discuss tactics, goals, and implementation strategies for their own organization abuse prevention policies.
What is the Child Protection Plan - Abuse (CPP)?
The Child Protection Plan (CPP) is a broad, innovative system to detect, mitigate, or respond to child physical, emotional, verbal, or sexual abuse in youth serving organizations. The goal of the CPP is to safeguard youth, detect perpetrators, and enhance organizational standards of conduct.
How is the CPP different from other safety systems or programs?
Rather than a checklist or vague forms and policies, the CPP provides measurable initiatives to directly address root causes and contributing factors present in instances of organizational child abuse. The CPP is designed to address specific concerns such as:
- Why don’t background checks accurately report prior deviant behavior?
- What can a child or staff do to recognize, respond to, and report suspicions or actions of abuse? Why don’t bystanders report suspicious behavior?
- What can a parent do?
- Will my hiring practices cause a would-be molester to “opt-out”?
- What is the difference between normal relationship-building versus
grooming behavior?
Who should attend this workshop?
The CPP workshop is for board members, administrators, directors, and leaders of youth serving organizations responsible for managing facilities, directing operations, hiring staff, and supervising youth workers and volunteers. Workshop attendees will be provided with a handbook with risk assessments, sample policy documents, guidelines, and educational material that can be adapted to your organization.
